Life Life Life…

We talk a lot about Life. This is the single most important thing which God has given to us. Its an opportunity which every one gets and the people who make the most of it are remembered across ages.

Often we waste this opportunity to please others and we make our decisions based on others will. This in turn modifies the direction of our life. The path of our life gets affected by the decisions we take. So if we compromise on our decisions to suit them as the world likes it we might not in the end reach the point where we wanted to at the start of the journey.

Almost everyone does this mistake at some point or the other, where they hide their original aspirations or desires to make way for a more customized or so called realistic ones on being told by others. Only a few of us identify these mistakes soon and they correct themselves at an early stage. This helps them to be back on the track for achieving their real life goals. These are the people who really succeed in living the life to the fullest. For most of us however the story turns out to be different and we keep committing the same mistake again and again. By the time we realize that this path which we are following would lead us somewhere else as opposed to what we really wished for, we are already far far away from the original trajectory of the life which we should have ideally followed.

At this point we should not give up thinking that we would never reach our life’s intended goal, rather we should get up and start correcting ourselves from that very moment where we realized our mistakes. By doing so, we might not reach to ideal path but we would always be one step closer to it and who knows one day we might actually be able to be back on the track for doing what we actually aspired to do. There are many examples of successful people who realized their life goals pretty late but they still managed to fulfill what they actually desired from life. Henry Ford, Charles Darwin and Sam Walton are some of the people who made it big at the second innings of their life.

And who can forget the famous comeback of Steve Jobs to Apple. His journey of life was on and off tracks a lot of times. But he identified his mistakes and was able to comeback from the dead every time people had written him off.

So take a pause of 15 minutes from your busy life and think.

Are you on the right track to achieve what you aspire to be at the end of the life journey? Are you taking decisions on your own or are you influenced by others ?

If you are on the right track and you take your own decisions, then its great and you should continue doing the same.

If not, think again, may be you need changes to be done in your life right now. If you don’t correct your mistakes now you might never be able to correct them.

The choice is in the hands of each of us. Either we can choose the direction in which we are happy at the end of our journey or the one in which others might be happy but we might not be pacified with the things we achieved.

Journey From Sadness to Happiness !!

How do we define Happiness?

Happiness is when our senses respond to a certain level of satisfaction or appreciation which we get from other people, events or even by experiencing peace of mind. It’s a state of mind and body when we want to charm the world, experience things further to increase the level of satisfaction which internally adds to our self-confidence. This is the prime reason why successful people are more confident and off course happier then unsuccessful people. The more you live in this state the better will be the results and life would be easier and full of roses along the path. It is rightly interpreted that happy people influence other people to be happy. Happiness doesn’t belong to anyone, it’s there for all to grasp. Like air, it flows around each of us and it’s up to us to identify it and have a chunk of it. People get so obsessed with happiness that they think that when they achieve their final goal they would get their deserved happiness. What they don’t realize is that happiness is not at the end of the journey but it is right there walking alongside you as a part of your journey. People who identify it get their share and those who look too hard for it are left in a longer never ending search.

What is Sadness then?

Sadness is not merely absence of happiness. The void space which had to be filled by happiness but is filled by discontentment is sadness. Discontentment is a product of high expectation coupled with low efforts plus a lot of disbelief. While in some cases sadness is temporary where it is concerned with a topic related to others or when felt by a person who has the ability of clearing up this discontentment and replace it with satisfaction by his constant efforts, hard work and motivation.  Whereas in other cases it becomes permanent as it stagnates bit by bit in a person’s mind who is not putting efforts to fight it. The people who allow this are always left wandering in search of happiness, what they don’t realize is that happiness is trying to come to them but they themselves are not allowing it as they have not cleared the vessel where happiness would like to stay. That space has long been occupied by Discontentment.

The Journey …

There are no shortcuts for reaching from sadness to a state of being happy. You will have to get your hands dirty as you will have to pull out each pile of the stagnated debris of sadness inside you. There is a journey which everyone can pursue from being sad to being happy. The duration depends on how ready you really are to accept the change in you. A person ready to change things in him an around him to make way for good things would find this journey very small and would soon enter in the state of happiness as soon he clears the mess of discontentment. Whereas it might take a lifetime for a person who is not ready to accept changes and is pacified with the discontentment.

You have to realize that God has gifted us only one vessel. You can either fill it with happiness or with sadness. It is you who has to mix motivation, efforts, changes in approach and zeal to make sure that the vessel is always free from stains of sadness and is ready to grab happiness no matter how small or how short-lived it is.

It’s always better to keep the vessel empty and shining waiting for happiness/satisfaction to fill it, rather than to make it polluted by allowing sadness/discontentment to settle in 🙂

Sometimes we just have to open our eyes…

Sometimes we just have to open our eyes to see it. It’s right there in front of us but our eyes are too complex to catch its glimpse.

Trying real hard to see things simply!!

The Unbiased Soul !!

Like the sky which by the virtue of its subtle nature doesn’t mix with anything , although its all-pervading, The soul situated in ourselves does not mix with the body even though its is right there in the middle of the body. The soul thus remains immortal !!

What If There Were No Boundaries ( A Short Story !!)

The train had started moving, there were deafening sounds of scream and chaos on the entire platform. In between these sounds of wailing people, a shrill voice of intense pain emerged which was audible to almost everyone on that station.

‘Bhai Jaan, Mohammad Bhai Jaan, Where are you?’ He tried to jump from the moving train but was held back by his maternal uncle.

‘No, Javed, No. Let him be in Gods hand now, I can’t let you go!’

With his running nose and wet eyes he kept screaming his brother’s name constantly just to get a glimpse of his big brother whom he loved more than anyone in his life as the train finally left Amritsar. He sat there on the doorstep of the train bogie for hours before his…

“We often waste our time for people who don’t understand the value of it rather than those who would feel lucky to have a little chunk of it !!”

“We often waste our time for people who don’t understand the value of it rather than those who would feel lucky to have a little chunk of it !!”

Its an irony that we often try to attract those people who don’t tend to value us. It is even a bigger irony that at the same time we take those people for granted who have faith in us, our abilities and we have a special place in their life. Its a strange phenomenon but is applicable to most of us.

What we forget is that the people whom we are ignoring are our biggest strengths and its because of their support in the times of low and the dark abyss that we were able to find a ray of hope.  Those are people who remind us of our abilities and also tell us that how charismatic we really are.

Try it forget it – Thats life!!

Revisiting old blogs.. This incident still brings a smile to my face 🙂

The Idiolect Saint

For last few days, I was preoccupied most of the time with things that actually should not matter much. I spent hours thinking about those things on which I had given my best shot but somehow those things never went my way.I somehow never  realized where I was going wrong.

Until this very morning when I woke up at 6 a.m and I saw pigeon trying to make its nest right in the middle of the window space of my apartment’s living room . I didn’t like the idea of this pigeon and thus we were involved in a 1-2-1 battle for the next half an hour, wherein every time the shrewd bird tried to pile up the thin wooden sticks on the window area, I would go and remove them and put the sticks into the dustbin. The pigeon tried its best to make its nest but I being more mean than it…

What we forget is that the people whom we are ignoring are our biggest strengths and its because of their support in the times of low and the dark abyss that we were able to find a ray of hope.  Those are people who remind us of our abilities and also tell us that how charismatic we really are.

We should be aware that if we lose them, we would lose our charisma and our radiance. We should not forget that what we feel about us is just a reflection of how they see us through their eyes.

So its good to chase your dreams but its equally vital not to forget those who were with you when no one else was!!

And yet we forget about the basic needs of life that make us happy !!

We are so busy in our lives that we forget that the only necessities needed to live are food, water and air.Instead we are now chasing after dreams, converting luxuries into necessities. What we don’t realize is that this thirst would never be quenched and it is a bottomless glass of endless greed.

Even after getting so much in life, we keep asking for more. Sometimes we also get angry with the almighty when he doesn’t offer what we wished for.We think that we are not his favorite disciples.

What we need to do is to rise from this everlasting sleep and realize that we have been so lucky and blessed to have things which we possess and to be where we are now.

We should thank the almighty for his showering his blessings on us and at the same time we should also start showering a little love around us. Rough stats show that even today there are 1.4 billion people or about 21% of the world’s population living below poverty level across the world.

Its our duty to pitch in and participate our bit in eradicating poverty and hunger from this planet forever.

This is a scene from a hindi movie ‘Swades’ (English: Homeland), where an NRI played by the male protagonist, discovers how simple and basic needs are of the people living in the villages of the interior parts of his country.

The scene depicts a child selling water mugs for 25 paise (Quarter of a Rupee) on a railway station. He does this whole exercise every day just to earn one bread for him every single day. Just imagine how tough would be live a single day of that kid’s life.

A truly serene scene, which leaves me in tears every time I watch it.
